Hawkeye Improves Gun Safety

Hawkeye Electronic Security Limited has recently launched a new gun safe called the Speed Vault which allows firearm holders to keep their firearm in a safe and convenient place while at home or work. While the new speed vault is not meant to replace a safe, it allows users to find a secure and convenient holding area without having to lock it up in a safe.

“Firearm users always want to have quick access to their firearms as well as keep the firearm away from children and other unauthorized users; the Speed Vault solves this problem. No need to put your firearm under your bed, mattress, pillow or draw,” remarks Sean Clacken, Group Sales & Client Relations Director.

Access is restricted via a code with the SV500 model or via an authorized biometric fingerprint with the SVB500. Once the code is entered, the compartment drops open for quick access and a light comes on giving visibility in total darkness.

“For those who want a floor mount housing as well as some additional storage space, we also offer the GV1000C-DLX . This model comes with a 110V power supply as well as a motion detection alarm feature.”

Adequately Securing Your Homes & Business

In today’s challenging times we must be constantly assessing our security needs. Sean Clacken, Group Sales & Client Relations Director of Hawkeye Electronic Security & Ranger Security recommends that we all apply the 3D’s concept of Deter, Detect and Delay (In that order) as it is a tried and proven set of principles to protect life and property.

DETER persons from choosing your premises through the use of dogs, fences, gate sign from your security provider, posting of a security guard, having a well lit home and grilling your windows and doors. Deter also means don’t attract attention. Don’t leave bikes out or empty boxes of newly purchased electronics.

DETECT intruders by using an electronic security system and use an armed response team for quick response. The use of motion detector lights along with dogs are also other great detection tools. Many persons hold different views on the use of motion detector lights, however Hawkeye recommends that motion detector lights not be used at the entry of your home as it better to approach your home when it is already well lit.”The use of motion detector lights can however be very effective to the rear and side of your home.

DELAY. The longer it takes criminals to enter, the quicker they will leave, so don’t make it easy. The use of grills, good locking systems and steel door jams will make the world of a difference. Even more important, always keep your windows and doors locked.

EMBRACE TODAY’s SECURITY TECHNOLOGY

Just like every other aspect of our life, the technology of security has advanced and this provides us with more information to make decisions, tools to make our life easier, and reduced cost of security.

Security in the Palm of your Hand. You can now use your smart phone, able or computer to arm and disarm your intrusion detection system, turn lights on/off, lock/unlock doors and view the cameras from your home or business. You can even receive email alerts when your alarm is activated or when specific users arm/disarm the building; which provides a tremendous amount of management information for today’s business.

Security getting smarter. It is now possible to install cameras or turn your existing camera system into a smart intrusion detection system. “Checkvideo has developed a solution that uses cameras to determine if a human being (not a cat, or dog) or vehicle is in an unauthorized area during specific time periods and will send an alarm to Hawkeye along with a video stream of what caused the alarm. Now we know what we a responding to as we have eyes on the ground.”, comments Sean Clacken, Group Sales & Client Relations Director of Hawkeye Electronic Security & Ranger Security. With security guard costs’ climbing each year, this he says, is the future of security as it allows home and business owners to get huge savings while maintaining a strong level of security.

VIDEO AT THE EDGE

Traditional security solutions utilize a centralized approach where all cameras are connected to a digital recorder to allow users to view live and recorded video from a central location. However more recent technology now makes the camera an all in one solution and the recording can be done locally on the camera on either and SD card or in some cases an onboard hard drive. This means there is no need for a separate recording device, simply just connect your camera to your local area network and that’s it. This is ideal for small businesses as the installation is very simple, cost effective and still offers the benefits of HD quality, local and remote viewing from your phone, tablet or PC, as well as exporting clips. This decentralized approach also makes the system more robust as there is no single point of failure. Current systems support SD cards up to 64GB which can offer weeks of storage; however as the SD card technology develops much larger storage options will be available in the future. Managing Director of Hawkeye, Mr. Ricky Mahfood, says that a four camera high definition system can start from 199,000+tax fully installed. “The system is very scalable. You can start with one camera and add as your business grows”.
